Why Some People Don’t Go to Church And Why We Must Rise Up and Build God’s House
Many believers struggle with consistency in attending church. Life gets busy, challenges arise, and sometimes the enemy subtly discourages our commitment to God’s house. But scripture reminds us that gathering together is not just a routine — it is a spiritual lifeline, a place of healing, strength, and divine encounter.
Below are some of the most common reasons people hold back from church attendance, followed by a biblical call to rise up and build God’s house with renewed passion.
Common Reasons People Don’t Go to Church
1. Tiredness
Life can be exhausting — work, family, responsibilities, and unexpected pressures all take their toll. But the presence of God is where true rest is found.
Church is not an extra weight; it is where burdens are lifted.
2. Habit
For some, not going to church has simply become a habit.
But the same way people form habits of neglect, they can form habits of spiritual discipline, strength, and devotion.
3. Money Matters
Some stay away because they feel embarrassed or pressured financially.
But hear this clearly: Jesus does not love you because of what you have. He loves you because of who you are.
“Whether you have or you do not have, still come to church. Jesus will not reject you — He loves you more than your money.” – Pastor Albert Ofori
4. Long Services
Some find that church services feel too long. Yet time spent in God’s presence is never wasted — it is investment into your soul, your peace, and your destiny.
Pastor Albert Ofori Quotes — Wisdom for Today’s Believer
- “When you fall in love with Jesus, offering becomes automatic.”
- “We must rise up and build more churches. It’s good to build for the Lord.”
- “Satan doesn’t quit, so why are you quitting?”
- “The devil will speak into your mind, but tell the devil your mind is for Jesus.”
These reminders call us to spiritual courage, consistency, and commitment.
Called to Build God’s House
Nehemiah 2:18 says: “Let us rise up and build.”
Nehemiah understood that the hand of God representing His Spirit empowers His people to build what matters to Him.
Likewise, God is calling believers today to build His house, support His work, and strengthen His Kingdom.
Who Are You in God’s House?
1 Corinthians 3:9 gives three powerful identities:
1. I am God’s fellow worker
You are not just attending church, you are building with God. You partner with Him in His mission on earth.
2. I am God’s field
Your heart is where God plants, grows, and produces spiritual fruit.
3. I am God’s building
Your life itself is a temple where the Holy Spirit dwells.
God is depending on you, yes, you , to help build His church and His kingdom.
Conclusion: Rise Up and Return to God’s House
Whatever has kept you away, tiredness, habit, financial pressure, or discouragement, today God is calling you home.
His house is your place of:
- Strength
- Restoration
- Identity
- Purpose
- Fellowship
- Growth
Rise up. Return. Rebuild.
For you are God’s worker, God’s field, and God’s building
